What is assisted living?
Assisted living provides residents with basic activities of daily living like bathing, grooming, dressing and the like. Some assisted living communities also offer medication assistance or simply reminders. Assisted living communities is different from nursing homes for it doesn’t offer more medical services.

Games. Aside from bingo which is senior’s all time favorite game, other card and board games can also be offered to them. Outdoor games are also recommended for they can enjoy the outdoor sunshine and have fresh air.

Some services they offer are emergency call systems in each resident’s living space, 24-hour security, nurse call systems, automated medication management, fire detection and protection equipment.
Transportation. Assisted living communities provide group transportation for community events and even for shopping. Facilitators can arrange transportation for seniors who needs assistance in transportation. This is a big help for getting people where they want to go.
Meal Preparation. Some assisted living communities offer kitchenettes that offer many options for preparing some meals in their apartments especially for breakfast.
Intellectual Stimulation. Assisted living communities offer many opportunities for learning like book clubs, art classes, gardening and the like.
Difference of Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Communities
Care and Services. Residents in a nursing home require 24 hour care and monitoring while assisted living communities requires custodial care.
Housing Style. Residents in a nursing home are likely to share a room with others while residents in an assisted living community usually have their own apartment or suite.
