Learning to Give Care Without the Fight

This in-depth intensive workshop will help learners use effective strategies for helping people with dementia during interactions, care delivery, and daily engagement. The goal is to help reduce resistance to care and foster participation and use of preserved skills. To do this, the workshop will guide learners to help them develop better observational skills to recognize and intervene effectively when behavioral challenges occur.  We will work on hands-on ways of communicating and assisting with daily life and in times of distress. By the completion of the session, learners will have new tools that will be applied throughout the rest of the workshop.

She ensures our team is prepared to assist each client and meet their needs. We thought we would share a little about Kim, so you can get to know her better! Why did you decide to join the Options team? My previous position took me away from family traveling quite a bit and my aging mom began to need me around more. When the position at Options came up, I knew it was a door the Lord had opened. I could utilize the skills I had learned from my previous career, be close to take care of my mom and learn about the options available to help me with this season of caring for my aging mom. When I met Scott Fischer and heard him share his heart, I knew it was right. His genuine compassion for helping people had me hooked. I love working for Options and am grateful for the opportunity to be part of this team.

What is something you would like to learn about the industry that you haven’t experienced? I’d like to learn more about the various options that can help finance retirement living. Clearly a larger budget offers more options with anything but helping someone with perhaps a lower income get to a happy place is so rewarding.
