Scott's Thoughts

Options for Senior Living Founder, Scott Fischer

I decided I'd switch things up a little bit and filmed my thoughts as apposed to my usual blog. This month I dive into why we all need to try easier, not harder.

Scott's Thoughts- Try Easier

Using A Health Savings Account For Retirement

Article By Joe Arsenault, Managing Partner of Arbor Wealth Management

By one estimate, a 65-year-old couple who retire in 2019 may need about $300,000 in savings to pay their health-care expenses in retirement. This includes premiums for Medicare Parts B and D, supplemental (Medigap) insurance, and median out-of-pocket prescription drug expenses, but not other health expenses such as long-term care, dental care, and eye care.1

Health expenses are rising faster than inflation, and even insured workers are finding it harder to pay their portion from year to year (premiums, copays, coinsurance, and deductibles), much less plan for the future. The stakes are even higher for early retirees (younger than 65) and self-employed individuals who must purchase their own health insurance and bear the entire cost themselves ....

Senior Referral Specialist, Nathan Glasco

Nate is our Placement Specialist for the central Phoenix area. His meticulousness and gentle care are a rarity and wonderful gift that he brings to our team. Here he talks about why he felt called to serve our senior population.

"Before meeting Scott Fischer in 2016, I had been aware of the fact that my life lacked direction and purpose for some time. Working behind cubicle walls in offices for so long was creating an ache for change, and I had a deep longing to be able to offer a service to people that sincerely needed my help. I was pushed into that new direction when my dear Aunt had a stroke and fell ill. We didn’t know where to turn when the hospital discharged her with a hospice company that was not satisfactory. From there, my family, in utter distress, took matters into their own hands and entered the senior living world to look for a group we thought would make my Aunt feel more comfortable and loved in her final days.

My Aunt passed away, and my Grandma in Albuquerque and my Grandpa in Colorado both saw their care needs increase to the point that it was no longer safe to live at home. These events, and more to come, would be the catalyst pushing me into this new direction. As a family, we searched for and worked with: Referral Agents, Assisted Living Group Homes, Assisted Living Facilities, and Home Health and Home Care Companies. Looking to fulfill the needs of my loved ones and to say there was a tremendous learning curve would be an understatement. Then, the brightest light I’d seen in a long time shined down and put me on the path to helping families that were in the same position we were. I saw with such clarity a need to offer a more empathetic, knowledgeable, hands-on, and sincere approach to helping families in crisis, as well as those leisurely pursuing their future options in a senior living community.

Of all the countless appointments I’d set up to learn more about how and where to get started in this massive and often overwhelming Senior Living Industry, Scott Fischer saw in me a passion to take a family gently by the hand and guide them through their times of difficulty, and eventually, I was invited and honored to join the Options For Senior Living Team. I remember thinking, this is where my life changes for the better, I have the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives In entering this arena, I bring with me all the emotion and reaction I had when I worked with my family to help them navigate and make those seemingly impossible decisions; Love, Patience, Forgiveness, Understanding, and Gratitude."

Winner.

Inspira Arrowhead Resident, Bernice.

Tammy, along with Kathy Flinn of The Laughton Team, hosted a raffle during their last senior industry COVID strategy call. Jeannie Grates of Inspira Arrowhead was the lucky winner of the basket of goodies that included a Skylight Digital Photo Frame for one of her residents. Jeannie had the perfect recipient in mind, Bernice.

"Thank you again for the generous gift! Bernice was nearly in tears! Her children live far away. One in Alaska and other overseas! She is so grateful."

We are so happy for you Bernice!

Client Testimonial.

About Senior Referral Specialist, Glenda Redman.

"In case I didn’t already mention - I just wanted to confirm again that my mom and I had a great experience with Glenda.

She was super sharp, dependable, patient and thorough - and just very nice to work with. We were very fortunate to have had her help."
