Scott's Thoughts

Options for Senior Living Founder, Scott Fischer

I would say the last few weeks has caused me to reflect deeply. Like so many of you, I am outraged at the viciousness and abusiveness which exists within our culture. I don’t understand how power and control swell to the point life would be needlessly taken. There is a pervasiveness of disrespect at the highest level I’ve ever seen. I’m guessing it hasn’t been this severe since the 1960s or maybe even the 1860s. “Torn in half “ doesn’t adequately describe what we’re all experiencing right now ....

Respite: Enjoy A Guilt Free Summer
Article By, Caregiver.com

Why is it that the words “respite” and “guilt” seem to go hand in hand? Why do caregivers feel we are somehow failing our loved one by admitting that we need help, need time to recharge our batteries or just need time to play a bit? Perhaps because so many of us still hold on to the myth that says the caregiver has to be all things to all people. The truth is, that no matter how we try, we can never achieve super-duper caregiver perfection. We are human with all the same needs and feelings as every other person in our lives. And, just like everyone else we need to take time to smell the roses.

The thought of going away for even a brief time for many caregivers is fraught with fears of disaster and chaos because we are not there to over see everything. After all, we all know ....

About Senior Referral Specialist, Barbara Hodge

Reflecting back on the last couple of months I realized I needed to give my heartfelt thanks to you for everything you did for my Mother and me. I came to Arizona to help celebrate my mother’s 97th birthday and realized in just a few days that she should not be living alone. Speaking with my mother on the phone every other day she showed that she was sharp and I had nothing to be concerned about. What I experienced in person was quite the opposite. Her vision was very poor and just a fall away from a nursing home. I did not know who or where to turn to and a neighbor gave me Scott’s phone number and without exaggeration he took over and gave YOU to guide and advise me.  You became my rock and actually a friend I could lean on in my decision making. You went over and above for what I would expect from a counselor. You listened and guided me thru what seemed an endless amount of red tape and drove around showing me facilities in which my mother would feel comfortable living in and in the same location of her rental. You did your homework to give all the reviews and information on each place. All I had to do was call and you were on the case. I called you my “Earth Angel” because that’s what I felt like having you on my side. I could go on and on but the bottom line is I know I could not have found a place my mother was happy to go into if it weren’t for you. Just the idea of putting this seriously independent senior in a group home would have been unthinkable. But you spoke to her with such compassion and assured her she would be well taken care of and that you would check in with her occasionally to make sure all was well. Truly you are in the right line of work and it shows. I owe my peace of mind to you knowing my mother is in good hands. Again, a big THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart and may God Bless you, Barb, and keep you safe.

Facing COVID-19 From Inside Mariposa Point of Mesa.

Many precautions are being taken in Senior Living Communities across the valley to protect residents and staff from Coronavirus. Our partners at Mariposa Point of Mesa are no different. In addition to new safety procedures, Sales & Marketing Director Stacey Fischer, shares what they are doing to help boost morale and protect the mental health of their residents.

"We have had to get really creative the last few months to keep our community atmosphere upbeat and cheerful during the pandemic.  Our concern has been to keep our loneliness and depression away from our residents while families have been restricted. We have had so much fun on parades, hallway bingo, karaoke and hallway dancing. Our residents and staff have grown so much closer as they have spent so much time together on 1:1 time and listening to their life stories. Our company has been so thoughtful to support us during this time and has taken significant steps and measures to keep our staff and residents safe."
