It's the end of March already?! I guess that just means we are having too much fun!

I hope the first quarter of 2015 has treated you as well as it has all of us at Options for Senior Living. Thanks to all of our supportive friends, fans and family that have helped spread the word about who we are and what we do, we have had the opportunity to serve many more families in the valley. We take great pride in the work we do and in the relationships we build. Thank you for being a part of it all!

Next weekend is the wedding weekend! We are looking forward to continuing to build our future together and we appreciate all of the well wishes you've sent our way.

Enjoy what's left of this month, and have a wonderful Easter holiday. We'll see you out and about!
A nice big thank you to the Romanet family at Dove Valley for the gracious open house they hosted earlier this month.

Top 5 Regrets People Have on their Deathbed
1. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
2. I wish I didn’t work so hard.
3. I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.
4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.
5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.

Your kidneys reach their optimum functioning at age 10 (!), then very, very slowly, but very surely decline for the next 100 years? Take a moment and think about that…and be kind to your kidneys!

The Importance of Experience

Blog post

One of the many things that make the transition to assisted living so challenging is dealing with the unknown. Sometimes, we just don’t know what we don’t know. That is why we rely on those that are experienced in the areas we are not. There are a lot of referral agents in the Valley, and a lot of these agents are very well intended. What often lacks, however, is experience. Experience in the industry is crucial. When you rely on a referral specialist, you should be able to rely on the specialist to guide you through every aspect of the transition. This often means the specialist will be able to suggest options that you have not considered.

We recently helped a family find a great home for their mom. They had come to us after working with a referral agent that wasn’t meeting their expectations. Beyond touring homes, this family needed help figuring out how they would finance Mom’s living arrangements. Mom had taken the precaution of securing a Long Term Care policy, which offers substantial relief for the family financially. This particular policy had a waiting period and the family was still trying to figure out how they would make it through the next 6 months without depleting their life savings.

Options for Senior Living met with the family and reviewed the policy, educating them on how their particular policy worked and what to expect from it. To avoid depleting their life savings, we suggested the option of using the existing resource of Mom’s home equity to cover the cost of care until the policy takes over. This option made sense for this family and put the family members’ minds at ease. Now Mom is safe and happy in her new home.

The point we want to stress here is that not all referral specialists are created equal. Options for Senior Living brings more than ¼ century of industry specific experience to the table. We know the valley homes intimately. We know the people that operate them and what they cater to. We know medical conditions, and just as importantly, we know the future implications of medical conditions, which is essential to choosing proper living arrangements. We’ve built a commendable reputation and have the know-how to help you cover all your bases and make the transition as easy as possible for both your loved one and the entire family.
